January 2012 marks the launch of 877-HELP-4-HEP, a new national helpline offering emotional support, health information, and care linkage from 7am PST to 7pm EST, Monday through Friday. 

877-HELP-4-HEP is the inaugural project of The Support Partnership (TSP). TSP's mission is to improve the wellbeing of people affected by hepatitis C through collaborations that increase service quality, access, and impact. HealthPro is serving as both the Managing Partner and Technology/Evaluation Partner for 2012.

Unique to 877-HELP-4-HEP are specially trained peer-counselors who help callers navitage through the complex tasks of screening, diagnosis, medical evaluation and treatment decisions.

Once a person has called in for help, subsequent contacts are initiated by the counselor as part of an agreed-upon follow-up plan. These follow-up calls offer support, health information, and referrals matched to the caller's current situation. More importantly, continued contact decreases attrition and builds the caller's skills and/or confidence to make and follow through with their hepatitis C related decisions.
